Ceremonies to mark a woman's rite of passage

There are many different chapters of our lives as women that can be marked, honored, and celebrated; a girl entering menarche, a woman about to become a mother, a new mother wanting to care for and honor her postpartum body and journey, a woman leaving her mensural cycle. Those are to name but a few, there are many more rites of passage that we go through in our lives, some common and shared and some far more unique and personal to each of us.

Having a ceremony or a nurturing ritual on these occasions is a chance to honor our journeys, give care and attention to the mind and body, and also holds a space to invite in our friends and family to both celebrate and support us on our paths.

I will facilitate the gathering of the important women in your life to support, honor, and celebrate you as you transition into motherhood!

Mother’s Blessing Ceremony

Ranging from $250-$450

Common activities during a Ceremony include:

  • Sharing spoken or written words of support and well wishes for the mother and baby

  • Passing a ball of cord around the circle, which is tied around each woman's wrist. This cord remains on everyone’s wrist to keep the mother-to-be in their thoughts, and it can be removed only once the baby is born

  • Giving each guest a candle to take home, which they can light to send well wishes during labor

  • Writing letters of support to the mother. Once the baby is born, one letter per month will be mailed to her to help on her journey

  • Bringing a special item to create a nurturing altar space at home, where the mama can feel held and empowered during her pregnancy, labor, and early motherhood

  • Decorating a dream catcher that will hold the group’s hopes, wishes, and love for the mother and unborn baby

  • Asking each guest to bring a dish for the freezer to help during the weeks following the birth

This event creates a space to honor, support, and celebrate a woman's journey into motherhood, focusing on the mother rather than the conventional baby shower, which typically centers around the baby.

A Mother’s Blessing Ceremony involves the gathering of the expecting mama, close friends and family. The purpose of this ceremony is to shower her with love, support, and blessings as she embarks on her motherhood journey.
